This is an example of what I call a “transition food”. If your child likes Pop Tarts, try Glutino Gluten Free Toaster Pastry instead. My kids like the apple cinnamon ones.
However, I still am an advocate of ultimately transitioning to minimal sugar in the morning (and throughout the day for that matter). It’s not good to sugar your kid up and then send them to school and expect them to sit still and behave for the teacher.
But again this is good until you can train yourself to rethink breakfast. Also, as a bonus, some of these transition foods are pricey so it’s an added incentive to wean off of the sugary substitutes and come up with a healthier alternative for morning.
